The Black Box Theatre in Las Cruces and Framed Wolfe Productions have teamed up to present a Charitable weekend of Wolfe’s well received play "Out of the Closet and Into the Fire" in support of PFLAG Las Cruces. Performances are Saturday January 7 at 8:00 pm and Sunday, January 8 t 2:30 pm.Wolfe says, "In these days of so much anti-LGBTQ+ violence and rhetoric, this play offers understanding of the real people and families affected."
"Out of the Closet and Into the Fire" is a moving play about the LGBTQ+ experience. Jan Wolfe is back with an updated and expanded edition of her amazing play based on the life experiences of LGBTQ+ people. All characters are based on real stories told or sent to Wolfe by real people. The stories have all been edited, condensed and edited to make them more universal, more stage-worthy and to protect identities. New stories have been added this year and will continue to be added to keep the play relevant.
The project has been a labor of love for many people over the last 12 years. This was originally written for the Pride group in 2009 and expanded and restaged in 2010 and 2012. "This group of actors has helped me polish the stories to their current shine," said Wolfe. No one in this production is being paid and all profits and donations from these performances will go to the PFLAG Las Cruces. Other productions will benefit other LGBTQ+ organizations.
Cast members include Paul Enriquez, Carlos de La Garzas Garcia, Aaron Setliff, Carmen Seda, Lisa Wolfe, Daniella Zalace-Seda, and Kate Keyser.
